J Radio

Free music from J Radio (Merlo Podlewski)

If you caught Jack Johnson live last summer, you probably saw Merlo step out from behind the bass and grab the mic for a verse on "Staple It Together". Merlo's hip hop side project J Radio is offering up free downloads here.

Merlo Podelewski first made the scene as a member of the influential indie band Spain.  The band was part of the original Silverlake scene that launched Beck, That Dog, Imperial Teen and the Dust Brothers.

He has performed live with many great musicians including Jack Johnson, Damien Marley , Neil Young, Del ,Kid Koala ,Money Mark, and Ben Harper and has recorded with producers Dan Nakamura, Mario Caldato ,JP Plunier, the Dust Bros ,Dante Ross, Robert Carranza and Domino from Hieroglyphics.

Jradio's solo project incorporates many of the influences from the producers and musicians he has worked with in his career.  A raw funky mix of rock and hip hop . Blending rhymes heavily influenced by Del ,Kool Keith WuTang and MfDoom and a live group sound influenced by Hendrix the Meters and Led Zep.
